Buying a home

We know the challenges involved in buying or selling a home, especially if it is your first time. Besides the price, whether or not you buy a specific home will also be determined by how you feel about it. On top of the usual difficulties, finding a home in Amsterdam and the Zaan region can be a huge challenge. The supply is limited and you need to decide fast. The home you were thinking about buying can be snapped up by someone else in the blink of the eye. Knowing the value of the home you are thinking about buying to enable you to make a realistic offer is a must. You also need to know promptly where properties are going to become available or have just appeared on the market. Using the services of a real estate agent will put you at a huge advantage. He or she will help you navigate your way in the housing market and find your new home as quickly and smoothly as possible. To give you a helping hand we have put together a FRIS “Step-by-step home buying plan“.

Step 1: Looking for a suitable home. Look at what we have on offer. Do you definitely want to buy a home, or is renting a home also an option? What neighbourhood do you want to live in?

Step 2: Viewing properties. Once you have found a home, together we will arrange for you to view it.

Step 3: Extra research. Once you have found a suitable home you may want to look into different factors, such as the energy efficiency rating.

Step 4: Negotiations. One of our real estate agents, who are also valuers and are experienced in determining the right price, will help you decide on the best bidding strategy.

Step 5: Signing the contract. If the seller has accepted your bid, a contract will be drawn up. The real estate agent will go through the contract with you.

Step 6: Financing your home. Once your bid has been accepted by the seller, you will need to settle the financing. Often, a mortgage is taken out. FRIS has spent years working with different advisors who can give you independent advice. They take your personal situation, home requirements and future plans as a starting point when providing you with mortgage advice. Once they have a good picture of your situation, a suitable mortgage and mortgagor are sought.

Step 7: Civil-law notary. Once a date has been set for the home’s transfer, the real estate agent will help you with everything needing to be done. This way you won’t forget anything and the civil-law notary can draw up the deed of transfer.

Step 8: Happy in your new dream house.

Our real estate agents will help you navigate the housing market to find your new home as quickly and smoothly as possible.

Selling a home

How should I decide how much to ask for the home I’m selling, how can I sell my home as fast as possible, how do I draw up the contract and how do I choose the best civil-law notary? There is a lot to consider when selling a home. To help everything to run as smoothly as possible in the busy housing market, using the right expertise and local market know-how is an immense aid. Our sales people know the current state of affairs in the Amsterdam and Zaan region housing market better than anyone. The real estate agent will prepare you for and support you in the different steps involved in selling your home, where required. You will go through the following steps:

  1. Determining the asking price
  2. Drawing up a promotion plan
  3. Preparing your home for sale
  4. Viewing plans
  5. Negotiations
  6. Signing the purchase deed
  7. Consulting the civil-law notary

Are you in doubt about whether to call in a real estate agency when selling your home? We will be happy to explain why calling in a FRIS real estate agency is a sensible choice. Are you planning to buy a home, possibly your first, or to sell your current home? If so, contact one of our real estate agents. They are specialised in the Amsterdam and Zaan region housing market and would be happy to hear from you how they could help you.
